I LOVE this time of year. My yard starts BLOOMING again, we gain an hour of daylight each day (although we have to adjust to what seems like less sleep), and the temperatures are just about perfect! I also have the desire to finally shed that extra "winter weight" that I've been hiding under sweatshirts and yoga pants..but that's a different post altogether. Also what I love about spring is Outdoor Portraits! It's about that time, folks! My March calendar is full but I have a few appointments available for April. Through one of my favorite blogs The Savvy Photographer I learned of Photographers for Haiti and knew I wanted to be a part. And this is how YOU can participate, too: I will be hosting a day of mini-sessions with 100% of the session fees going to Compassion International, an organization devoted to releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. You will be writing your check directly to this organization so that you can be sure that your donations are going to the right place...and it's tax deductible! In addition, I personally, will be donating a portion of what you spend on prints and products, too! I am so excited to help out and I hope you will be as well! I was tickled to be able to photograph this family. This beautiful girl was my best friend in high school. We live miles and miles apart now, but I love keeping up with her and her precious family through blogs, facebook, etc. I was so happy that she wanted me to do some pictures for her! Her girls are little angels!

Storyboards

I've had several inquiries about the "storyboards" recently, so I thought I'd post an example:A storyboard is one large picture that is made up of multiple images (of your choice). Depending on the layout of the storyboard it's typically between 10x20 and 16x20, and it's printed on a very sturdy matboard. Its great to display on a shelf or easel as is or have custom framed! There's also another example here. (this is the 10x20)

While visiting my parents in Alabama, I stumbled upon the prettiest little sunflower garden! I was wanting to get some new pictures of Elizabeth since she will be turning FIVE next month (sniff, sniff). So after a new outfit and huge amounts of bribery, we made it out to the sunflower garden. In 75 shots, this was the only good one... I thought it was sweet..wish she was looking at me, but oh well.. whatcha gonna do??

It is with great excitement that I share with you my brand spankin' new website! I am so proud of it! It's something I've been wanting to do for a while, but the thought of it was just so overwhelming. But then, almost by divine providence, I found a company that sells templates, mainly geared towards photographers! It was so fun putting it together....still have more info to add to the site, such as pricing and info about myself, which I will work on this week. Oh, and I'm considering adding music. What are your opinions on that? Do you like music when looking at a slideshow? Or do you find it annoying and just turn the volume down? Well, we have been in the hospital with Ava since Friday afternoon. She has a staff infection! She had 3 little ant bites (or so we think..we never actually saw the ants) on her arm. Mike says he noticed them over a week ago. They got read and started swelling over the course of last week. But Mike has the same reaction to ant bites, so we just assumed that she has some sort of allergy to ants. Well... they just kep looking worse and worse. Finally I decided that they looked a little infected, so I took her to the pediatrician's office to hopefully just get an antibiotic to knock it out. The doctor took one look at it, knew it was staff and sent us straight to the hospital...well AFTER she squeezed and dug and squeezed and dug as much puss out as she could. All while I had to hold down my screaming baby as she looked at me like "why are you letting this happen to me?" It was awful. So yesterday, we finally saw the Doctor who tells us that, apparently, her strain of staff is resistant to the antibiotic. And they won't know until they get the culture back (MONDAY) which antibiotic to use. So for now, she just gets the general antibiotic and steroids through the IV. Poor thing... she's terrified of the nurse staff. She screams every time they come in to even check her temperature. and she's so extremely boredI guess once we get the right antibiotic, and the puss softens up again (it has hardened under her skin), they'll squeeze more of it out. That's the worst part. So please say a little prayer for us. I know it could be sooo much worse. There are some really sick babies on our floor. But just pray that the antibiotic will work fast and that she wont be in too much pain. Hopefully we can go home Monday or Tuesday!

welllll.. I know this isnt exactly CHILD photogrpahy, but I just finished editing these. I thought they came out great and wanted to share! A friend has a great cover band, named 5 Finger Discount. He asked me to take some pictures for them before and during the Strawberry Festival. I had a GREAT time and look forward to doing more for them!

I've decided to take my passion for photography to the next level and start my own business as a children's photographer. For now this is my portfolio. I will post some of my favorite pictures from the last year as an example of my work. I just love taking pictures..and I especially love seeing the smiles on the faces of other parents when they see the pictures of their children. I specialize in natural light photography. My style is informal and more on the candid side. I love to capture the true personality of a child rather than a formal, posed photo. I will travel to the location of your choice (within the Mandeville/New Orleans area) or meet you at Fairview State Park in Madisonville.
